Bluepoint's next Potential Marvel?

No that was no me sneakily confirming what their next remaster project is going to be :p Its not like we haven't had enough Marvel goodness thrown our way in the form of Mile Morales, Avengers (divided reception of course) and the upcoming Spiderman 2 and Wolverine from the visionaries at Insomniac

But more on point its something which even shortly after the release of the warmly received Demons Soul remake has been floating around people's minds and got them asking that inevitable question: What are those developer wizards conjuring up for us next?

Now in this day and age of such opinionated minds and fire ignited views I'm expecting there to be somewhat of a divide about this. So lets assume everyone is in the mindset of ''Yeah they should definitely remake another beloved classic etc..'' instead of ''Nah let em be bold, make an original game for once dammit!''. Because that is what the focus of this specific post is going to be about. I may revisit the latter proposition at some point and maybe brainstorm an outline of ideas for a potential original game that Bluepoint could craft themselves but technically that would be their jobs right?

So for now I will throw at a couple of games which I feel Bluepoint could do a tremendous job bringing to life for the now current gen (or next gen still) I dunno. Until the PS5 and Series S/X consoles have settled in terms of general mainstay consoles. :)

Couple of ground rules to lay down:

1) Can either be a PSOne, PS2, PS3, OR PSP game. No PS Vita or PS4 suggestions here folks, ITS TOO RECENT!

2) Can either be a solo game or trilogy or a duet depending on the nature of the series. Its open season!

3) Going to try and be realistic so nothing incredibly niche like Tron Bonne (PSOne) or 10,000 Bullets (PS2). Something which was fairly mainstream, acclaimed somewhat, well known. That sort of thing. You'll get the gist of what I'm going with based on the following.

METAL GEAR SOLID 4: GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS

No big surprise here! Hell it was heavily rumoured to be what Bluepoint where potentially working on prior to their Demons Souls announcement. Its a valid ask after all. I mean its kind of strange that given 14 years after its initial release (can't believe I'm saying this!) it has yet to receive any sort of remaster or remake of any kind. Considering the amazing MG HD Collection we got back in 2011-2012 its a darn shame that we haven't had anything in the way of this being given a modern lick of paint.

Outside of a 25th anniversary edition re issue which came pre installed with the latest trophy update and an exclusive poster we have yet to get that definitive enhancement of what is arguably one of that generations most impressive games particularly on the visuals front.

Just imagine the war torn landscapes in glorious next gen visual fidelity with ray tracing effects or for the purists 60-120 FPS of tactical espionage mayhem and of course the return of this!

SYPHON FILTER COLLECTION

Truth be told I only really had any love for the excellent PSP games in this series. The first two on PSOne were OK whilst I generally avoided the 3rd due to sequel fatigue. In other words there was very minimal gameplay and audiovisual evolution as those initial games went on (at least in my opinion.

So why make a collection you ask? Well based on the PSP inclusion alone it would make a great value package and assuming the dev goes the extra mile would be nice to have some intriguing behind the scenes of the studios past, present and well...Days Gone! (considering that was Bend Studios most recent project). Oh and a side note: Omega Strain would be a welcome omission. ;)

RESISTANCE COLLECTION

Industry vets Insomniac haven't exactly been shy when it comes to the social media side of things seemingly teasing something related to the series as of recent. Whether this would eventually culminate in a new game, and actual trilogy remaster of the first three or something else? We don't really know.

But ideally I would love to see a more complete package with the PS3 trilogy, PSP highlight Retribution and the flawed but decent PS Vita iteration backed with tonnes of goodies like documentaries about the making process, never before seen concept art, previews, movies. The works.

So there you have it. Just a few choices mind but I would certainly like to explore more potential game collection 💡 ideas in the future. :)

CES 2023 Not long to go now! As a hardcore tech enthusiast this is like Christmas, my 🎂 birthday and New Years all rolled into one. Seeing the latest, greatest (and often the weirdest) in tech innovations being exhibited always feels like window shopping in the worlds biggest sweet/candy store. The latest in 8K technology and beyond, driverless vehicles (yes I'm aware its still in the trial phase), even more AR ad VR experiences and of course the least news from all the heavy hitters so know doubt Panasonic, Apple, Sony, LG, Fitbit and many more will show off their gizmos for the world to see! Wish I was there myself in person but will hopefully get to experience this digitally and have just as much an amazing time covering the event as I would physically in Las Vegas.  See you guys there!
